COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The 18th Space Defense Squadron (18 SDS), a component of Space Delta 2, is the U.S. Space Force’s premier Space Domain Awareness squadron and provides and advances a continuous, comprehensive, and combat-relevant understanding of the space situation. The squadron is located at Vandenberg Space Force Base (SFB), California, and executes command and control of the U.S. Space Surveillance Network (SSN) – a global collection of ground and space-based sensors that track all man-made objects in Earth’s orbit.

A motion graphics explainer of the new Space Delta 15 Emblem. Delta 15 (DEL 15), headquartered at Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado, is the newest organization in the Space Operations Command order of battle. DEL 15 will provide service Command and Control capabilities, mission ready crew forces, skills training, certifications, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance support and cyber mission defense to U.S. Space Command’s functional component Joint Task Force-Space Defense and the National Space Defense Center. Also, DEL 15 will develop training environments, testing, and simulation to prepare U.S. Space Force forces, and designated joint and allied partners.(U.S. Space Force video by Dave Grim)
